  i'm a natural born skeptic. sorry, but those born agains sound worse than the JWs. if i would have to make a pick between them, i'd go JW all the way.

  Is the WTS backing away from "Bible Tall Tales" ?

  when i was a kid, it seemed like not a meeting went by when you didn't hear about jonah or sampson and other tall tales from the bible.. now though, they seem to have been sidelined.

  i guess the rest of the world caught on to the fact that these stories couldn't possibly be true and were so far fetched (yeah, even by bible standards) that they are just treated as 'stories' like aesop's fables.

  saying that you believe in them as genuine accounts just makes you look like a crazy zealot.. but the wts is different.

  why would satan do such a thing? btw, that 185k angel is depicted in the bible as a servant of god.

  and by backups i don't mean just copying the current state to another medium, i mean daily backups, so you can go back in time and get a version that hasn't been afflicted by the virus.

  you should have made backups... i hope now you will.

  it's probably easiest to pay the ransom. it may be possible to restore some files using some disk forensics software like test disk, but i wouldn't bet on it.

  How I recently handled JWs at my door

  the jws stopped by my house a couple weeks ago on a saturday morning.

  i knew that with others most likely waiting for them out in the car they probably did not then have much time to engage in any serious conversation.

  so i let them talk while i feigned interest in what they had to say.

  the definition of christian is as ambiguous as there are christian sects. christian can mean just about anything as long as it's somehow connected to jesus.

  The most Disturbing Story in the Bible

  i posted elsewhere about dr. james tabor's take on the book of revelation as re-write of an earlier non-christian document.

  but in browsing his site i was reminded of an early biblical story in genesis that essentially throws so much jewish and subsequent christian thinking out of the window.. .

  can your mind handle the concept of yahweh standing in front of you, with a human body like yours, eating, drinking.

  Genital Mutilation - Is anyone watching this?

  uk chanel 4 " the cruel cut".

  in the uk in black and asian communities female genital mutilation(fgm) or destruction of the clitoris and the labia of young girls is practised.

  this horror is common in the uk, it is illegal and has been for 28 years but there has not been one prosecution.. this got me thinking.

  of course it's sexual mutilation and abuse. it's sick. it should be outlawed and it is outlawed in several western countries already. it should be an outrage indeed.
